Breathe Easier with Cleaner, Healthier Air

HUMIDIFIERS

When you turn up the heat in winter, you do more than warm your home. Your heating system pulls moisture form the air, leaving it very dry and uncomfortable. This dry air is also hard on your home furnishings, plants, pets and your lungs. It also contributes to static electricity.

Dry air feels cooler, which forces you to keep your thermostat higher and costs more money.

Humidifiers can replace the lost moisture. They're controlled by a humidistat, which senses the amount of moisture in the air and cycles on when needed.

These devices will greatly add to your winter comfort, and can be checked an serviced when your heating and cooling system is maintained.

HIGH EFFICIENCY AIR CLEANERS

There are two basic types of high-efficiency air cleaners: mechanical and electronic.

Mechanical air cleaners are like standard furnace filters, but much more efficient in filtering out unwanted particles. The standard one-inch thick fiberglass filters commonly used only filter out 5 to 8-percent of airborne contaminants. The high efficiency air filter (Trion or Air Bear) can filter down to particles as small as 1/24,ooo of an inch in diameter. these filters trap pollen, smoke, animal dander, dirt, dust and mold. These filters should be changed when your heating and air conditioning system is maintained.

Electronic air cleaners work by giving a positive charge to particles in the air. Those particles then go through a filter and are trapped by a negatively charged collector plate. This removes 95-percent of all pollutants from the air. These systems should be serviced at least once a year.
