CARE AND MAINTENANCE OF YOUR
HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING EQUIPMENT

Thermostat
Set the thermostat at a comfortable temperature, but remember the warmer you keep your home in the winter and the cooler in the summer, the more you'll pay for electricity or gas.

Air Filters
If you have the 1" disposable air filters, you'll need to replace them at least every 2 - 3 months. The pleated filters only need to be replaced once a year, and we can do that for you when we come by for your regular maintenance.
The washable air filters should be cleaned once a month.
And remember, don't ever operate your system without a filter in place.

Return Air Grills
Make sure these are not covered up, and keep them open. Your duct system was designed for air flow through all the supply outlets. Closing more than one off can cause your system to work harder and use more energy to operate.

Outside Unit
Beware the grass clippings! Turn the unit off when you're cutting the grass so prevent clippings from being sucked into the coils and stopping them up. Clogged coils can cause higher utility bills and equipment failure.

Thunderstorms
To prevent a costly repair, its a good idea to cut your system off at the thermostat during thunderstorms.

Regular Maintenance
Your heating and air conditioning equipment should be checked annually by a qualified heating and air conditioning company. A little preventative maintenance can go a long way in keeping operating expenses down and extending the life of your heating and air conditioning equipment.

BEFORE YOU CALL FOR SERVICE

Check your thermostat. Make sure you have it set in the proper mode and the temperature set correctly

Check your air filter(s). Forgetting to change your filters is common, and a stopped-up filter can cause a number of problems.

Check your electrical panel. Make sure you know which beaker or fuse controls your heating and air conditioning equipment. Sometimes just resetting the breaker after a storm can get your system operating again.

Load management allows utilities to turn your air conditioning and hot water heater off during peak suage hours in the summertime. If you have this agreement with your company, call them to see if your service interruption is a result of load management.

When you do call for service, its helpful if you can tell us:

This will allow us to bring any replacement parts we may need, and help us diagnose your problem quickly so you can enjoy comfortable air again quickly.
